46 South Glebe Road Suite 300, Arlington, VA, 22204
The NCTR Counseling Center provides outpatient treatment for teens and adults seeking support for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns. This location offers day treatment (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient therapy, and office-based medication-assisted treatment (MAT), allowing patients to enter care or step down as their needs change. Services combine medical support, counseling, and evidence-based interventions grounded in a cognitive behavioral approach.
Patients can access therapy options including individual counseling, group eye movement therapy (EMDR), and psychoeducation. Treatment plans draw from research-supported practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), helping people understand symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and practice healthier decision-making. The separate adolescent and adult programs provide consistent support through scheduled sessions, skill-building groups, and clinical monitoring tailored to each level of care.
The Counseling Center includes office-based medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid and alcohol use disorders, delivered alongside behavioral therapies. Medical providers offer medication management, clinical oversight, and patient education to support safe, effective treatment. Care teams also help families participate when indicated and connect patients with community recovery resources to reinforce progress beyond the program.
As symptoms improve, patients may transition to lower-intensity outpatient services that maintain accountability and reinforce long-term recovery skills. Step-down options range from multiple weekly sessions to periodic check-ins and ongoing therapy, usually for 6-12 months. This flexible structure helps people move toward independence while preserving continuity with the same clinical team.
