Unfortunately, Connecticut is not immune to addiction and the opioid epidemic which is afflicting the whole nation. But, the good thing is that the state has enacted a bill that is working towards preventing abuse and designing treatment programs aimed at combating addiction.

In the U.S., Connecticut ranks as the 7th state with the worst drug problem. The Nutmeg State has experienced an increase in opioid prescription addiction since 2000.
In 2010-2011, the state was among the top ten with the highest rate of illegal drug dependence for people above the age of 26 in the United States. The number of opioid-related deaths in 2018 was 1,017, which was triple the deaths experienced in 2012.
