In 2010, the number of people who were admitted for drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Louisiana was 26,334 out of which 3,584 were treated for alcohol addiction, and 4,132 were treated for the use of both alcohol and another drug.
In the last 15 years, the number of people being treated for alcohol addiction has reduced slightly. But, the number of people being treated for heroin, opioids, and meth has significantly increased.
