Newport Academy Southern California is a nationally recognized teen treatment center dedicated to healing the mind, body, and spirit. Founded by Jamison Monroe Jr. and his father, Jim Monroe, Newport was created from personal experience with addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges. Today, the center provides residential, outpatient, and academic support programs designed to address substance use, depression, anxiety, trauma, and family conflict. Teens ages 12–17 begin care with a comprehensive assessment and are supported by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, dietitians, and academic staff. Evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT) are paired with holistic options including yoga, meditation, equine therapy, music, art, and adventure-based activities, creating a balanced approach to long-term recovery.
Beyond clinical excellence, Newport Academy Southern California emphasizes family involvement and academic success, ensuring that healing extends beyond the individual. Licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and accredited by The Joint Commission, the center also offers day schools and outpatient programming for flexible care. Teens benefit from small classroom settings, tutoring, and customized education that aligns with therapeutic progress. Outdoor programs such as horticulture therapy and nature-based activities take advantage of Southern California’s natural beauty, while luxurious, private environments provide comfort and security. Covered by most private insurance, Newport Academy empowers teens and families to rebuild trust, foster resilience, and achieve lasting wellness together.
