Muir Wood Teen Treatment Penngrove, founded in 2013, is a Joint Commission-accredited, gender-separate residential treatment center for adolescents ages 12–17 struggling with mental health, behavioral, and substance use issues. With a maximum of just 18 teens per campus across 12 California locations, Muir Wood provides highly individualized and family-centered care in a safe and supportive setting. Their expert staff includes board-certified psychiatrists, licensed therapists, nurses, and academic professionals dedicated to helping teens heal and grow. Treatment begins with comprehensive psychological assessments and ongoing evaluations. Core components include individual therapy twice weekly, family therapy sessions, weekly family intensives, psychiatric assessments, and family support groups. Teens also engage in experiential therapies such as hiking, art and music therapy, yoga, meditation, and other adventure-based activities to support overall wellness and recovery.
Alongside clinical care, Muir Wood Teen Treatment Penngrove offers robust academic support to ensure teens stay on track in grades 7–12. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), their academic program provides 3+ hours of school daily during the academic year, with options for in-person or virtual learning. Teens benefit from small class sizes, direct guidance, and close coordination with their home schools. The Penngrove campuses are private, spacious, and recovery-focused, offering activities such as volleyball, basketball, meditation, and mindfulness practices. Nutritious meals are prepared daily by executive chefs, and recovery-friendly outings foster community and confidence.
