Newport Institute Northern California provides gender-specific residential treatment for young adults ages 18 to 35 struggling with mental health challenges, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Each individualized plan combines clinical, experiential, vocational, and educational components for long-term recovery. With evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), group counseling, nutrition education, body image groups, and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT), clients receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs. Founded by Jamison Monroe, Newport Institute is dedicated to helping young adults overcome the rising mental health crisis in the U.S. and build meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Located in Northern California, the center offers gender-specific housing with two residential homes for women in San Rafael and one for men in Sunol. Experiential therapies such as yoga, equine-assisted therapy, cooking classes, and martial arts are integrated into treatment, along with career counseling, life skills training, and spiritual growth programs. Clients spend up to 30 hours in clinical and experiential care plus 20 hours in academics, balancing healing with personal development. By focusing on the root causes of addiction and behavioral issues, Newport Institute prepares young adults for success through vocational guidance, executive skill-building, and academic support, empowering them to achieve long-lasting mental, emotional, and professional well-being.
