The Bridge - Tuscaloosa County Transitions is a community-based diversion program serving teens ages 13–17½ in Tuscaloosa County who are facing behavioral challenges, justice involvement, or substance use addiction. Designed as an alternative to placement in the Department of Youth Services, the program provides structured, short-term support lasting approximately 3–6 months, with flexibility to adjust services based on each youth’s unique needs, risks, and strengths.
The Bridge - Tuscaloosa County Transitions works closely with juvenile courts, families, and local agencies to guide adolescents through the full network of county services. Staff tailor service intensity to motivation and progress, helping youth and caregivers access counseling, behavioral health resources, and community supports regardless of ability to pay. This coordinated approach promotes accountability, family engagement, and positive outcomes while reducing further justice involvement.
