North Central Health Care – Youth Crisis Stabilization Facility provides 24-hour short-term crisis care for children and youth up to age 17 experiencing acute mental health challenges and addiction-related concerns in Wausau, Wisconsin. During a brief 2–5 day stay, a Medical Director and Clinical Supervisor oversee immediate intervention and stabilization, helping young individuals regain safety and emotional balance. The program’s primary goal is to connect youth and families with appropriate community resources that support long-term recovery, wellness, and ongoing care.
At North Central Health Care – Youth Crisis Stabilization Facility, personalized treatment plans use evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to address emotional regulation, coping skills, and challenges related to substance use disorders. Youth participate in individual and group therapy alongside structured daily activities that balance therapeutic sessions with recreation, mindfulness, life-skills education, and creative expression.
