Everyone who visits Costa Mesa absolutely adores it. It sits just a mile from the seaside and enjoys the beautiful year-round weather and climate conditions that come with living in Southern California. Its name actually came from a contest in 1920, when it used to be called Harper and was confused with other, similarly named nearby towns. A teacher came up with "Costa Mesa" and it was the contest winner, and thus the town (now a city of more than 100,000 people) received its name.
