Lots of people have seen TV shows depicting Laguna Beach, but that is a poor representation of how interesting the city is, as well as how much depth of culture it has. The one thing that probably was represented accurately is the fact that Laguna Beach is absolutely gorgeous in terms of its natural landscape, beaches, and perfect sunny weather.
Laguna Beach does suffer from an alcohol problem, due in no small part to the culture surrounding drinking here. It is often encouraged by the sheer presence of many bars and restaurants that are always throwing it in your face.
Treatment for alcoholism begins with admitting there is a problem. It sounds like a cliché kind of statement, perhaps, but that is only because it is extremely true and therefore said frequently. People who are addicted to alcohol are not going to get better until they are truly ready to stop drinking and commit to treatment.
The person may want to enroll in an inpatient rehab program, as that will make the withdrawal, therapy, and aftercare easier and less tempting to go back to the drink. Outpatient treatment that includes therapy is also a good option.
