The abuse of marijuana is known as cannabis use disorder, or CUD. If someone is noticeably spending a lot of time (significantly more than the average user, for example), then they may suffer from CUD. It can disrupt their life and occasionally leads to mood disorders or the worsening of mood disorders.
Someone visiting Lancaster, California probably wouldn’t notice that there are some people who overuse cannabis to be found here. They might not miss the fact that marijuana can be found and is commonly used, but overuse is a different story.
Instead, people will be distracted by how cool Lancaster is. They house the California Poppy Festival in the spring, for example, which gains 60,000 ticket holders. The poppy is the state flower of California. This awesome event began as an Earth Day celebration but evolved into what it is today.
Treatment for marijuana “addiction,” or cannabis use disorder (CUD), can vary quite a bit according to the unique person’s issues and reasons for abusing marijuana in the first place. Indeed, a lot has to do with the fact that people have unique reasons to be at risk for developing CUD, or at risk for overusing it. Perhaps they have a mood disorder or are being peer pressured to do it, or perhaps it is a genetic reason.
In any case, there aren’t any effective medications that will do the trick, but therapy treatment is often quite effective.
